Whetstone Prom will be held May 9 and half the school will be without plans that night.
All students love Prom so why can’t underclassmen (grades 9 and 10) attend prom?
We realize that it is tradtion for only upperlcassmen to attend but we feel that all students could be included.
Whetstone is, generally speaking, a small high school. Compared to Upper Arlington high school (with about 1,900 students) and other comparable suburban schools, we are about half the size. Which means that if ALL our students could attend, we’d have about the same number attending as UA’s prom.
Unfortuantely, for now, all we can do is hope an upperclassman asks us to the prom so we can go as a date. But, hopefully, someday, we can all make it to prom.

Note: this is an opinion piece. As of this writing, only juniors and seniors can buy tickets to the prom.
