Taking the Financial Stress out of Prom

By Arielle Swinehart

It’s prom season, which means for most people spending a ridiculous amount of money on a dress that will only be worn on one night.  Many juniors and senior girls are unable to afford the high price tag of prom, and that’s where the organization, Fairy Goodmothers comes to the rescue.

“Fairy Goodmothers is an empowering organization. We are hoping to support young women in creating wonderful life moments for themselves, and when they look back, it won’t matter how they got their dream dress,” Jennifer Homan, Fairy Goodmother Board member, said.

Fairy Goodmothers is an organization that provides young women with formal dresses and accessories when they are not able to afford them. They make it possible for girls to go to prom no matter what financial situation they are in.

They receive donations from various stores and companies. They offer girls shoes, clutches, earrings, bracelets, rings, hair clips, wraps, and dresses to create the perfect night.

“The truth is, saving for the next step in life is difficult, no matter what that is, and most families are trying to be responsible. Some families have a hard time planning for the next day, let alone the next year. Fairy Goodmothers makes sure that young women can have a wonderful moment at prom, no matter what,” Jennifer Homan said.

Prom is only a few short weeks away, but there is still time for you or someone you know to find your perfect dress to match your perfect night. The last day is Saturday April 9.
